Arrival in Tirana International Airport and transfer to city center. Dinner and overnight in Tirana.
Today we travel towards Shkodra, the country's fourth largest city, which is only 1.5 hours away by bus. Guided tour of Shkodra through the restored old town, the imposing cathedral and the mosque. Then we will experience the Rozafa Castle. From the castle we enjoy a magnificent view over Shkodra and its lake. The best way to pass the evening is to take a relaxed stroll through the sprawling pedestrian zone. Dinner and overnight in Shkodra.
Today we head towards Valbona Valley, one of the highlights of the Albanian Alps. We take a spectacular boat trip for about 3 hours, through the artificial lake of Koman. The lake is created by the hydropower stations built on Drin River. The depth of the lake has given it an opal green color, while being surrounded by high mountains. It is called by many as similar to the Norwegian Fjords. After the ferry trip, drive through the alpine villages towards Valbona. The Valley is an authentic village, where it looks like time has stopped since many decades. In the valley we can sleep in an alpine style hotel, in guesthouses or with a local family. Dinner can as well be organised in a local family house for a more authentic experience.
Today we drive towards Kosovo. Arriving in Peja, we visit the monastery of Decan. This monastery complex is a wonderful example of the Orthodox religious architecture and art part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must for anyone visiting Kosovo. We leave Peja and drive to visit Prizren. Prizren is a true open air Museum, one of the most beautiful towns of Kosovo which has best preserved the architectural style of the past. The craftsmen of Prizren are well known for their beautiful gold and silver articles and other folk handcrafts. Dinner and overnight in Prizren.
Returning to Albania, we reach the historical city of Kruja. One of the landmarks of this idyllic town is the castle, which we are going to visit. With the Ethnographic Museum and the Skanderbeg Museum, we will experience two more cultural highlights before enjoying the rest of the day simply staying and strolling through the historic squares and streets. Dinner and overnight in Kruja.
After breakfast, free time in the city. Transfer to the airport for the return flight, where we say goodbye!
